You were born with a unique set of gifts that nobody else possesses. When you choose to use those gifts you grow and bless those around you, as well.
But what if you don’t know what your gifts and talents are? Fortunately, that’s easy enough to determine. Here are a few questions to ask yourself when you’re not sure what you offer to those around you:
1. What do you like to do? Our talents usually show up as things we enjoy doing. For some it’s music, for others it’s managing teams. Find what you like to do and do more of that. You may not be able to give yourself fully to doing it all at once. However, set intentions to create more space in your life for what you like to do a little at a time. You’ll find that it not only makes others happy but it will make you happier knowing that you are helping others and connecting to what you were created to do.
2. What are you good at? Are you great at building things, or are you everyone’s trusted counsel? Are you good with a paintbrush, or are you better suited to create spreadsheets? In what areas do you excel? What comes naturally to you? This may not come to you at first because you’ve been doing it all along and it seems like a natural, everyday thing to you. But pay attention, what you’re good at is closer at hand than you think.
3. What do people come to you for? When people recognize talent, they ask for more of it. Maybe people ask your advice on relationships. Or maybe they come to you seeking a shoulder rub. Service is the greatest way to share your talents and give your gifts.
